A team of the Technical Secretariat of the Managing Organs of Refugee Status is currently in the Gourenguel transit center (Mayo Tsanaga) in the Far North Region to perform Refugee Status Determination (interviews) on ex boko haram fighters.
The Government officials will be assisted in this exercise by UNHCR officials. They are called upon to interview the ex combattants in the strict respect of international conventions (1951 Geneva Convention on Refugee status, the 1969 OAU Convention on the specific aspects of Refugee problems in Africa and, the 2005 Cameroonian law on Refugee status) to establish whether or not the exclusion clause should be applied to them.
